I am a Registered Social Worker and Family Mediator with more than 25 years of experience working with individuals, children and families through periods of significant change.
My professional journey began while I was in University, when I volunteered with a Supervised Access Program in Peel. This experience introduced me to the challenges families can face during separation and divorce and sparked my interest in helping families navigate conflict and change.
After completing my education, I worked in a variety of settings, including corrections and child protection, before establishing my private practice in 1998. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals and families experiencing grief, loss, separation and other significant life transitions.
In addition to my private practice, I am a Clinician with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer and a roster Family Mediator at the Orangeville, Brampton and Newmarket Courthouses.
My Professional Qualifications
I am an Accredited Family Mediator and Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Specialist through the Ontario Association of Family Mediators (OAFM), a Child and Youth Informed Mediator (CYIM), a Child Protection Mediator (CP Med), a Separation Coach, an Intergenerational (Elder) Mediator and a Registered Social Worker (RSW) through Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I have facilitated several courses and workshops, written articles for local newspapers and have appeared on the Ask Andrew Show with Andrew Feldstein as well as on the DCAFS Connecting with the Community Rogers Television Show.
My Approach
Separation and family conflict can involve much more than legal or practical issues. They can involve grief, uncertainty, changing relationships and concerns about how family changes will affect children. My approach is to create a respectful and supportive environment in which people can address difficult issues while looking toward the future. Where children are involved, I believe it is particularly important to consider their experiences and perspectives in an appropriate way without placing them in the middle of adult conflict. My goal is to help families move from uncertainty and conflict toward greater clarity and workable solutions.
Why Dragonfly?
The dragonfly represents change and transformation. Families can change too. My role is not to tell you what your family should look like. It is to help you navigate the changes you are experiencing, understand your options and work toward a path forward that is meaningful for your family.
